A new chapter for GUESS by Marciano. Inspired by the intimacy of a Mediterranean jazz lounge, the store becomes a stage where fashion, art, and atmosphere perform in harmony. The new concept for GUESS by Marciano reimagines the brand's legacy of glamour and sophistication through a contemporary lens.
Rooted in the idea of a Mediterranean jazz club or a private speakeasy, the store becomes more than a place to shop — it becomes a space to linger, connect, and experience the brand's essence. Every product is treated as a curated art piece, displayed within an interior that feels both intimate and sculptural.
A glimpse into the Marciano store, where Mediterranean warmth meets jazz lounge intimacy.
The material palette is defined by a balance of warmth and restraint, drawing from the intimacy of a Mediterranean jazz lounge. Natural wood introduces depth and continuity, while travertine and terrazzo add a quiet sense of Italian classicism through their subtle textures. Deep red accents bring moments of contrast and atmosphere, softened by brushed brass details that reflect warm, ambient light. Together, the materials create a calm, tactile environment where light, texture, and tone shape an intimate and refined spatial experience.
Store Floor Plan
The layout is designed as a sequence of layered experiences, balancing openness with intimacy. At the entrance, a solid wooden wall featuring the Marciano by Guess logo establishes a clear focal point while subtly screening the interior, preserving the privacy of the spaces beyond. The main area unfolds into a fluid retail environment where daily wear collections are displayed through curated wall fixtures, sculptural display units, and softly curved Mediterranean plaster walls dedicated to accessories and bags. Integrated within this space, the cash register remains discreet, maintaining the continuity of the atmosphere.
Toward the rear, the environment transitions into a more intimate zone defined by burgundy carpeting and soft textiles, where changing rooms are conceived as a tactile, ambient retreat. To the left of the entrance, a wooden doorway leads into a secondary, more private section of the store. Here, the atmosphere becomes quieter and more exclusive, featuring a lounge area, displays for eveningwear and special collections, and a dedicated shoe area with carpeting to ensure comfort and privacy during trials. Together, the layout creates a gradual shift from public to private, shaping a refined and immersive shopping experience.
The wall fixtures are designed as a modular system that brings order and consistency to the retail space. Each unit follows a clear set of proportions, creating a rhythmic repetition along the walls that allows garments and accessories to be displayed in a structured and legible way. This approach reduces visual clutter and ensures that the focus remains on the products, while also allowing flexibility in how the collection is arranged.
The material language follows the overall palette of the project, with terrazzo surfaces providing a solid and textured backdrop, complemented by refined detailing. The finishes interact with warm integrated lighting to create depth without overwhelming the space. A range of units — including rack systems, shelving, and integrated mirror storage — supports different display needs while maintaining a cohesive design language. Together, these elements form a functional and adaptable system that reinforces the concept of a curated and well-balanced retail environment.
The space unfolds as a considered sequence, guiding visitors from a defined entrance into layered retail and intimate lounge zones. Details are resolved with precision, with soft transitions and careful joinery allowing materials—wood, terrazzo, travertine, and brass—to meet seamlessly. Light is treated as a design element, enhancing textures, shaping atmosphere, and marking the shift from public to private areas. Rather than expressing luxury through display or excess, the store interprets Marciano through intimacy, material depth, and a slower, more deliberate engagement, encouraging visitors to pause, touch, and explore the collection within a calm and reflective environment.
